No Horizon
I commented to my husband on a bleak winter day that I could make a quilt of the countryside, thinking it would be a plain white piece of cloth because you couldn't discern earth from sky as all was the same color.  As we drove along, I considered the narrow range of white and gray colors.
The quilt is whole cloth with several shades of white and gray thread.  The text is hand-written with black ink.
"With a white winter sky and a little fog there is no horizon on the prairie - only leafless trees sketch the rolling plains."

No Horizon was a finalist at the International Quilt Festival in Houston in 2011.
